February 2021 Update

Council has been working on the draft Long Term Plan. This is the most important document that any Council has to prepare. It is the blueprint for almost everything that council aims to do over the next 10 years. The LTP is a rolling document. Although it sets out a 10 year plan, it is reviewed every three years and continually updated. The first 12 months of the LTP become the Annual Plan, budgets are set and works planned based on these budgets.

WE CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR YOU, AS A RESIDENT, A RATEPAYER OR BOTH , TO BE INFORMED, AWARE AND INVOLVED IN THIS PROCESS IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN. THIS IS YOUR MONEY AND YOUR DEMOCRACY AT WORK.

Here is the timeline:

12th March – LTP draft released to the public and opened for consultation (originally 3rd March but has been delyed).
14th March – WRRA committee workshop
6th April – public consultations close
30th June – final LTP must be signed off and approved by a full meeting of Council

Your committee has set aside time for a full day workshop on the 14th of March. We will examine the proposed LTP in detail and prepare our submissions. We will be publishing a full list of the key points from the LTP, and our submissions for or against individual items. We welcome your input and comments and will be happy to include these as part of our Association submissions, however responses will carry more weight if they are received from both individuals and community groups.

More information on how you can take part will be provided in our next newsletter immediately after the March 14th workshop.
