Tsunami Siren’s

We have been researching and reporting extensively on sirens and hazard warning systems since June 2020. It’s a complex topic and has ignited strong feelings amongst those of our members who feel there needs to be more consultation before the sirens are switched off for good.

Here is a link to the petition currently circulating asking TCDC to reconsider their position, and a Facebook page, Tsunami Sirens Silenced, set up by local residents concerned about the issue. We continue to have discussions with council and other agencies on the status and proposed solutions, and will keep you informed about progress.
